Discover the simplistic, natural appeal of our end tables. Most are hand-carved from a solid piece of kiln-dried, sustainable monkey pod wood. Others are made of farmed teak wood or mango wood. Skilled craftsmen from the Chiang Mai area in Thailand create these one-of-a-kind pieces. After each end table is carved and sanded, it is hand-finished to enhance the wood's natural luster and beauty. Most energy auditors know that a thermal imaging camera is a great tool for rapid inspection of building heat loss. But less well known is that a $50 infrared laser thermometer makes a great, cost-effective alternative.

Admittedly it's not quite as good as a thermal imaging camera - you can't visualize the heat escaping from the building in a single glance... But an infrared thermometer with laser targeting is a powerful tool for finding thermal leaks.

In an effort to take our product to a greater degree of environmental compatibility we have been adding items with a natural oil finish. There are several to choose from.

Natural Oil Finishes

Tung Oil
Pure Tung Oil is water and alkali resistant. It resists marring, penetrates well, is elastic and unlikely to check. Tung oil builds quickly, consolidates the wood surface and builds a transparent matte finish. It should be kept in an airtight container with minimum air space. Pure Tung Oil contains no thinners or driers and has a light nutty odor.

A 2002 study from Cornell University estimated that "vampire appliances" were costing American consumers 3 billion dollars a year in wasted energy. And today's electricity prices would probably make that cost estimate seem quite conservative.

But it's only when you obtain and use a kilowatt meter that you become painfully aware of the amount of electricity that many appliances use when they are switched off.
